When I first got involved, The Anvil was on life support. Once a thriving home for Purdue’s founders, it had become quiet — inconsistent programming, an outdated brand, and no real pipeline to bring new students in. It felt like the last stronghold of a startup scene that was slipping away.
I stepped in with a plan to rebuild it from the ground up. First, I secured a dedicated 24/7 co-working space on campus — a physical home base for builders that could match the energy of the community we wanted to bring back. Then I rebranded the organization entirely: new name treatment, visual identity, and messaging. I designed a landing page to serve as the front door for any student curious about entrepreneurship — whether they had an idea or were just exploring. I also introduced new programming to make The Anvil feel active again, from speaker events to workshops to open co-working hours. And when words weren’t enough, I made videos to promote what we were building.
By Spring 2022, the results were real. We co-hosted the first Purdue Startup Expo, filled our co-working space with thousands of logged hours, and helped fund five student-run startups with over $100K in non-dilutive support. The vibe had shifted. Students were staying late, building projects, meeting co-founders. Faculty, investors, and alumni took notice — not just of the programming, but of the quality and intentionality behind the design. The Anvil didn’t just get a fresh coat of paint; it got its spirit back.
