In 2021, I got access to GPT-3 while it was still in private beta, well before ChatGPT became widely known. At the time, very few people were seriously exploring what generative AI could mean for real-world applications. I saw an opportunity and ran with it.

Alongside my co-founder, I built Quasi School (formerly AnythingExpert), a chat-based learning platform that covered six academic tracks: math, humanities, computer science, science, engineering, and world languages. I designed the entire chat interface and built a custom backend that let us fine-tune GPT-3 models directly inside the web app. Our goal was to create a more human and interactive way to learn — one that felt closer to talking to a real expert than reading a textbook.

This was my first time working with generative AI, and it completely changed how I thought about design. It wasn’t just a tool to add on — it was a new interaction model. Convincing others of its value wasn’t easy. Most people still saw AI as a novelty. It took over a year to get others to take it seriously.

Quasi School marked a shift in how I approached my work. It set the foundation for everything I’ve done since in AI and design.
