As a Purdue student, I was constantly frustrated by how fragmented the campus app ecosystem was. There was one app for dining courts, another for your class schedule, a separate one for your digital ID, yet another for campus events, and even a different one for the gym. None of them talked to each other. None of them felt designed for students — just launched at us.
So I decided to redesign the experience. As a personal class project, I created a concept for an iOS app that combined all of these services into a single interface. The goal was to make campus life feel seamless. Whether a student wanted to check lunch menus, pull up their student ID, or see what events were happening nearby, they could do it all from one place.
It was never built — but it didn’t have to be. This project was about reimagining what campus life could feel like if someone actually designed it with students in mind. And it reminded me that design is often just common sense that no one’s acted on yet.
